What do we need to trust God for?

I was deeply challenged by a sermon on the feeding of the 5000 on Sunday. The pastor shared that the disciples had just come back from a preaching, healing, deliverance tour and were elated but tired. They got in a boat to go to a quiet place for retreat. I sometimes feel like that. Then as they approached the shore of their retreat they saw a multitude gathering. This hacked them off as they had given so much already. But Jesus, in typical God form, embraces the masses. After teaching them "many things," the disciples complained, (whine implied) "its dark, were in the middle of nowhere, we haven't eaten..." Jesus says, " you feed them." Then after a sigh of desperation, they get to work organizing an impossible task. Once the crowd is organized they realize they cannot accomplish the feeding. Then God acts and feeds the multitude.

I guess the thing that gets me is, we often get so busy doing stuff that we organize God right out of our life and minstry. So I ask myself the question, "WHAT do I need to trust God for???" Maybe I should quit organizing the insurmountable tasks before me and just let God get on with it and hang on for the ride... :)

Priviledge

The weeks seem to pass very quickly as I get older. The kids are growing up and my hair is greying. I am reminded of the brevity of life and our responsibility to make the most of every opportunity. I am also reminded of how blessed we are. I have never known war, poverty, or hunger. There are many I am now called to serve who have never known peace, plenty or fulfillment. This realization humbles me. We are so privileged.

I was sitting in my backyard on Saturday, enjoying the afternoon sun and watching the kids play and I realized that my close friends from Palestine have never had the priviledge of playing without fear. Never had the freedom to travel and see the world. Never had the joy of knowing that their children have a future. Never had the assurance of their own forgiveness and eternal life. I want to give so much to them. May God be glorified.

Topsy-Turvey Ministry

Our ministry seems to take some strange turns as we hold on and watch what God is up to. As many of you know our primary place of ministry is a Aslym seekers housing center called Adamscourt. It is being evacuated currently and the residents are being relocated to private accomodation in Cardiff or sent to other cities. This is makeing some very upset as you can understand. Unfortunately, everything in this situation is ultimately determined by money. Contracts for accomodation are being re-negotiated and those whose lives are caught in the middle are disrupted again. Pray for us as we seek to be a help and an encouragement to friends we have made at the center.
